It took the NFL to show America something that many of us have known all along:
When you replace well-trained union workers with far less competent ones to save money, bad things happen.
The NFL owners have locked out the referees since their old contract expired in June, and have refused to offer them a fair new one. As a result, football has suffered, fans have suffered, players have suffered, and the many thousands whose work depends on this game have suffered as well.
Make sure to share this with any football fans you know. And let them know that if they are are horrified at what union busting has done to football, then they should be prepared to fight back when the same is tried to our teachers, police officers and firefighters.
