Joe Biden in 2016? Crazy, or… Not?

Just reading this article in Politico, detailing some of the prep that Joe Biden is going through to get ready for potential run for president in 2016.  Yeah, yeah, he’s focused like a laser on 2012 right now, but… prepping for the next election, just in case.

The conventional wisdom has been that Biden would be too old — 73 — in 2016 to make a run.   I don’t buy it.  Ronald Reagan was 73 when he ran for re-election in 1984, and won in a landslide.

Plus, watch Biden speak sometime.   Does he look or act anywhere near his age?  Now, 4 years is a long time, but if he’s still this vigorous, engaging, and engaged when 2016 rolls around, I think he’d be a very serious contender.

Personally, I’ve always liked Biden.  His gaffes can be a problem, for sure, but… I also find him to be one of the few national politicians who always sounds very real, and very authentic, rather than overly media-trained, tentative, and frankly… full of it, like so many others.
