Santorum’s NYT rant

Rick Santorum’s rant against a NY Times reporter — calling his question “bullsh*t” — seemed just a little too not-so-spontaneous to me. Looked like something he’d been waiting to unleash for a while, and this was the opportunity.

But ya know what? I actually think it was pretty smart. It will play well with the GOP base, which frankly loathes the NY Times (unfairly, IMHO, but that’s besides the point). Plus, it makes Santorum look tougher — important, given that the guy basically looks 13 years old (not knocking it, I wish I knew his secret, but it’s the truth).

Too little, too late? Probably. But if Santorum wants to make a Hail Mary pass for the nomination, he needs a lot more of this. And that ain’t bullsh*t.
