President Obama Vetoes Keystone

FYI, from Left Action:

Republican leaders in Congress pushed through a bill to build the Keystone XL pipeline – and President Obama has used his veto pen to stop it.

Please sign your name, and join us in thanking the President for protecting our environment and our future.

Here are the facts about Keystone:

  • It is not a job creator. In fact, the project would only create 35 permanent jobs, while putting farms and communities in its path in peril.
  • It would, however, create more than 5 billion tons of CO2 by 2050, damaging our environment, and making it far harder to fight climate change.
  • The existing Keystone pipeline has spilled more than two dozen times. Future spills could threaten water supplies for millions.

No matter how much the Republicans try to cheerlead for Keystone, facts are facts – it is a terrible idea. And President Obama was right to veto it.

Please join us in thanking him.
